The Journey
Do you know how Christ planned to reach the world? It
is through the church! Jesus tells Peter in Matthew 16 that he will
build his church upon Peter and the gates of hell will not overcome it. In
Matthew 28, Jesus commands us to go and make disciples and to teach
them to obey everything he commanded. Since Jesus commanded this, it is
extremely important that we understand the pledges we make when we join the
church.
When we join the United Methodist Church, we pledge to
support our church with our gifts, our prayers, our presence, our service
and our witness. So what exactly does that mean? Come on “The Journey”
this fall and explore these pledges in a variety of ways. Our lives will
become full of purpose and joy as we live the lives Christ intends for us.

 Beth
Moore: So Long, Insecurity
America’s most renowned and esteemed Bible teacher, Beth Moore, will help
women throughout North America conquer fear and doubt and discover the
secret to liberating confidence and security in a nationwide simulcast
event.
In this powerful one-day simulcast based on her newest
book, So Long
Insecurity: you’ve been a bad friend to us, Beth
reveals a
transparent, almost autobiographical look, at the common sources of female
insecurity: the unattainable perfection of media images; dependence on a
man’s love as ultimate validation; and success that is defined by money,
power and status. In her
straight-talking yet loving style, Beth
will strike a chord with women of all ages, showing them how to face their
fears, rediscover their God-given dignity, and develop a new and stronger
sense of self.
First UMC is able to provide this program as a free
event to the Huron area community because of the generosity of The South
Dakota Coalition for Daily Ministries (SDCDM). There will be a free-will
offering collected for the muffins & juice and the lunch that will be
provided.
Also, that same weekend at our church, there will be a
traveling South Dakota Iraq Memorial being displayed in our sanctuary.
There should be plenty of time to browse the display of banners over the
lunch break from 11:30am – 1:00pm.
Join Beth Moore for a day that will transform and liberate you!
Time: 8:30am - 2:30pm
Cost: Free
(free will offering taken for morning
muffins, lunch &
program)
Please Pre-register for this event by Monday, April 19th by
calling FUMC office at 352-8604.
