Do you know how Christ planned to
reach the world?
It is through the church!
Jesus tells Peter in Matthew 16 that he will build his
church upon Peter and the gates of hell will not overcome it.
In Matthew 28, Jesus commands us to go and make disciples
and to teach them to obey everything he commanded.
Since Jesus commanded this, it is extremely important that we understand
the pledges we make when we join the church.
When we join the United
Methodist Church, we pledge to support our church with our gifts,
our prayers, our presence, our service and our
witness. So what exactly does that mean? Come on “The Journey” and
explore these pledges in a variety of ways.
Our lives will become full of purpose and joy as we live the lives
Christ intends for us. |

Are you ready to dig deeper in your faith?
Do you have a nagging feeling that there has to be more to the Christian
life than what you have been experiencing?
If so, take “The Journey”! |
|

“The Journey” is a small group experience
where together, we will explore the areas which we pledge to support
when we become members of the Methodist Church.
- My Gifts
- My Prayers
- My Presence
- My Service & Witness
|
|
 |
Taking “The Journey” will help us to live our lives as true Disciples of
Christ.
Along the way, travelers will grow closer to God! Your small group
commitment will allow meaningful relationships to be developed with
fellow sojourners.

How it Works ... |
|
|
"The Journey" is a unique small group experience
that is flexible in design but structured enough to
provide
focus to enhance Christian growth.
Groups will meet from January - April for 4 years. We will
begin studying what it means to support the church with
our
gifts this January. Then next winter (2011), we will
take a look at prayer, then presence and service the
following years.
We will form as many small groups as possible with the ideal
group size consisting of 8-15 travelers.
Individual groups
will study the same general topic but will be able to choose
personalized curriculum. An assortment of learning
mediums will be available- from working through a
video-driven class study, reading a book together &
discussing,
going on field trips, interviews with people who are "walking
the walk" etc. That way each group can really meet
the
needs of the members of their group as they take a closer
look where they need to grow. We plan to provide
at least 2
to 3 leaders (tour guides) per group so no one person is
expected to lead continually. Each group will
choose when
and where they want to meet.
For each topic of study, an opportunity will be provided
for individual groups, to get together for an all group
experience. This group experience may be listening to a
speaker, organizing a mission project, or going on a
field trip.
